About Our Client

The client is a UK-based engineering and technology business that forms part of a wider international group and is experiencing growth and operational change. They operate across multiple UK sites, deliver major projects, and rely on a mix of permanent employees and specialist contractors.

Job Description

  • Act as the first point of contact for employee relations, including grievances, disciplinaries, capability, and misconduct
  • Provide day-to-day HR advice and guidance to managers
  • Support recruitment activity across UK sites
  • Take ownership of contractor management, including onboarding, compliance, documentation, and contract extensions
  • Apply and maintain knowledge of IR35 and contractor compliance
  • Develop and implement processes to track contractor paperwork, expiry dates, and approvals
  • Maintain and utilise HR systems (Workday experience desirable)
  • Support manager development and promote HR self-service
  • Contribute to HR projects aligned to UK and European people strategies

The Successful Applicant

A successful HR Manager should have:

  • Strong experience as an HR Business Partner or Senior HR Advisor
  • Solid employee relations capability, including handling complex cases up to gross misconduct
  • Knowledge of contractor management and IR35 compliance
  • Experience supporting operational, technical, or project-based teams
  • Ability to work autonomously, manage a high workload, and prioritise effectively
  • Practical experience with HR systems, ideally Workday
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Collaborative, flexible, and adaptable approach to change
