An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a large, complex organisation, taking a leading role across Employee Relations (ER), restructures and organisational change.You'll manage a high-volume and varied ER caseload, providing expert guidance on formal processes and supporting managers through challenging and sensitive cases. Alongside this, you'll play an important role in restructures and change programmes.

Job Description

In this role, your primary responsibility will be to provide a high-quality HR consultancy service across employee relations, restructures and organisational change. You will:

  • Manage a high-volume and complex ER caseload, including disciplinaries, grievances, sickness absence, performance and capability
  • Provide expert advice through formal processes, ensuring the consistent application of HR policy and employment law
  • Play an active role in restructures and organisational change programmes, advising managers on the people implications and supporting consultation processes
  • Provide guidance around role changes, redeployment, redundancy and other people-related aspects of restructuring
  • Promote positive ER practice and work collaboratively with trade union representatives, contributing to effective consultation and negotiation
  • Coach and support managers through complex, sensitive and potentially high-risk people decisions
  • Contribute to policy development, HR guidance and the continuous improvement of HR processes
  • Provide clear, accessible and user-friendly guidance and materials for managers and employees
  • Use workforce data and insights to highlight risks, inform decisions and identify opportunities for proactive improvement



The day-to-day role will have a strong focus on ER case management and restructures, alongside broader HR consultancy, policy and organisational change activity.

The Successful Applicant

We're looking for someone who brings:

  • Strong, proven Employee Relations experience, including managing complex cases
  • Experience supporting or leading on restructures and organisational change
  • Confidence managing high volumes of complex ER cases within a large or multi-disciplinary organisation
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, HR policies and equalities requirements
  • Experience advising managers through consultation, restructuring and change processes
  • Strong coaching and influencing skills, with the confidence to guide managers through difficult decisions
  • The ability to build credible relationships with senior stakeholders, managers, trade unions and partners
  • Experience within a public-sector or unionised environment would be advantageous, but is not essential
  • The ability to interpret workforce data and use insights to inform casework and organisational recommendations
  • A degree, HR qualification or equivalent level of experience



Availability: Candidates should ideally be available within the next 4 weeks, with immediate starters particularly welcomed.

What's on Offer

  • Salary between £48,000 and £52,000 dependent on the level of experience.
  • 1 day onsite working arrangement in Sheffield.
  • 12 month Fixed-term contract offering stability and focus.
