Job Description

Candidate Summary - SIPP Client Services Manager Role

This is a newly created leadership position within a fast‑growing direct‑to‑consumer investment platform, focused on pensions and retirement services. The role requires an exceptional and influential people leader with a proven track record in building high‑performing teams, driving capability uplift, and embedding a culture of accountability and excellence.

While strong pension knowledge is valuable, the primary focus is transformational leadership-setting strategic direction, strengthening operational processes, inspiring teams, and establishing the SIPP function as a centre of excellence. The role involves preparing the operation for the future of retirement, scaling efficiently, and leveraging technology to enhance the operating model.

The position is based in a flagship office in Manchester, within a dynamic and diverse business committed to a culture grounded in care, inclusion, integrity, and tenacity.Responsibilities - Summary, Pensions / SIPP Client Services Manager

  • Provide strong, inspirational leadership to SIPP Client Services teams, driving accountability and a high‑performance culture.
  • Monitor KPIs and SLAs, taking corrective action where needed to maintain service quality.
  • Coach and develop leaders and specialists to ensure the team has the capability and structure to support rapid growth.
  • Lead cultural evolution within the SIPP function, promoting client‑centric behaviours and continuous improvement.
  • Drive process optimisation and automation to enhance efficiency and client outcomes.
  • Act as an escalation point for complex or sensitive SIPP issues, ensuring compliant and high‑quality resolutions.
  • Partner with Technology, Risk, Compliance, Product, and Oversight to strengthen processes and improve client journeys.
  • Use data and client insight to identify trends and inform strategic decisions across retirement operations.
  • Oversee resource and workforce planning to ensure capacity aligns with demand and supports operational flexibility.
  • Maintain deep technical expertise within the specialist SIPP team, while enabling generalist teams to operate effectively at scale.

The Successful Applicant

Essential Skills & Experience - Summary, Pensions / SIPP Client Services Manager

  • Minimum 5 years' experience leading multidisciplinary, client‑facing teams within financial services.
  • Proven people‑leadership capability, with a track record of uplifting performance and developing high‑performing teams.
  • Strong understanding of pensions, SIPP operations, and the regulatory landscape, with the ability to guide technical specialists and ensure compliant delivery.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to simplify complexity, influence stakeholders, and set clear direction.
  • Demonstrated experience leading through change, improving operations, embedding structure, and driving continuous improvement.
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CII, PMI).
  • A leadership style focused on developing people, building capability, and fostering a culture that brings out the best in teams - not just improving processes
