"When I first started my career in 2017 in fibre optics planning/design, I fell completely in love with it. Starting out, knowing absolutely nothing about fibre, I was set for the challenge. Living in South Africa, although my home, was proving to be a real challenge, especially with all the problems going on. We decided we needed to get out while our son was still young, and I started to look for work in the UK. I came across an advert on Indeed late in 2021, for a Fibre planner and I sent my CV to Rachel (NMS Recruitment), we had a Teams call and she sent me a job spec for a company called Freedom Fibre. She had said they were currently not hiring but she was going to take the chance to send my CV through to them. The very next day I got an interview date, and about 2 days later I got the job!
During my interview process when I was first Introduced to Graham, Keith, and Joanna, I felt straight at home. I felt a sense of calm speaking to them. From the very get go they were on my side. This decision led us to immigrate to the UK. Although very difficult, we decided this was our opportunity to have a better life, and especially for our son. I had to make this journey by myself to begin with, and it was probably the hardest thing I have ever had to do. Leaving behind my husband and son was not easy, but every single step of the way Freedom Fibre has been behind me. From helping organize a house to the very last detail, to helping me with the simplest of things I just couldn't do on my own, I couldn't have asked for a better company to work for. Not just the company itself but the people who work there. The HR team have been truly amazing to me as well as my family.
Starting at Freedom Fibre in March 2022 was an absolute dream come true. I have never worked for a company like this before, they truly and genuinely care about their employees, and everyone is so friendly and helpful. Not one ounce of judgement, but always encouraging. The HR team made it an easy transition for me, not only in the work environment, but in my personal environment as well.
