About Our Client

Our client is a well‑established and growing business based in St Helens, currently seeking an Accounts Assistant / Bookkeeper on a temporary‑to‑permanent basis.

The role sits within a stable and supportive finance function and reports directly to the Finance Manager, providing strong exposure to day‑to‑day accounts activity and a clear opportunity to secure a permanent position following the temporary period.

Job Description

The Accounts Assistant duties include:

  • Credit control (chasing debt, managing customer accounts)
  • Raising sales invoices and credit notes
  • Purchase ledger processing
  • Processing employee expenses
  • Carrying out credit checks
  • Supporting with rebates
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Assisting with wages processing using Sage 50 (wages only)
  • Banking and posting tasks



The Successful Applicant

A successful Accounts Assistant should:

  • Be immediately available or at short notice for a temporary to permanent role
  • Proven experience in an Accounts Assistant or similar role
  • Good attention to detail and organisation skills
  • Confidence working in an office‑based environment
  • Previous use of Sage 50 or similar systems (desirable)

What's on Offer

The benefits on offer include:

  • Salary: £32,000 - £33,000 - (weekly pay during the temporary period then monthly following transition to permanent)
  • Temporary to permanent opportunity
  • Full‑time, office‑based
  • Hours: 8:30am - 5:00pm (37.5 hours per week)
  • 20 days holiday + bank holidays
