We are working with a global, listed investment management firm who are leaders in the retail investment space. They are looking to hire an Associate Director, Communications and public affairs who will be responsible for defining and owning the strategy for retail products.

About Our Client

The client are a reputable specialist in retail investment products and are looking to hire an Associate Director, Communications and Public Affairs into their marketing and communications team in London, with the goal of advancing the growth of their tax efficient retail product offering.

The candidate will work closely with the Marketing Director and two retail Partners of the business as well as the CEO and CIO to develop and lead communications strategies for media nad political engagement and influence.

Job Description

Key responsibilities of the Associate Director, Communications and Public Affairs:

  • Craft and communicate authoritative and high-impact narratives to represent tax advantaged investment products
  • Create and deliver campaigns to promote the benefits of tax-efficient retail investment to political decision makers at HMT, DBT and No. 10 to advance UK business and support economic growth
  • Create and deliver campaigns to demonstrate the positive economic, social and environmental impact of maintaining business relief as a financial mechanism for UK retail investors
  • Identify PR and media campaign opportunities for key business spokespeople
  • Establish creative ways to partner with publishers, conference organisers, journalists and "finfluencers" to support their retail product and services
  • Work with our industry peers as appropriate to establish collective voice and greater impact
  • Represent the business with industry bodies and trade member associations such as the CBI, VCTA and AIC to present company interests and influence policy change
  • Gather insight from financial adviser and wealth management partners to Foresight to develop thought leadership content and media campaigns
  • Collaborate with retail investment marketing and sales teams to ensure the communications agenda supports our fundraising and origination goals
  • Monitor, analyse and share media relevant coverage, staying abreast of industry and competitor issues and activity, to identify opportunities for Foresight to establish a leadership voice
  • Work creatively with the firm's corporate and financial PR agency to develop and promote tax-efficient product interests with media
  • Work with a public affairs agency to educate and engage with UK government and opposition parties
  • Ensure consistent application of the business narrative, tone and branding across all external communications
  • Partner with Compliance teams to ensure all external communications meet regulatory requirements and follow correct sign-off procedures.
  • Thorough knowledge of and compliance with company procedures and standards to contribute, or otherwise assist, as required
  • Actively engage with and support the DE&I agenda

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate for this role:

This role requires a strategic thinker with outstanding communications skills, creative flair and the ability to deliver authoritative, clear messaging across multiple channels. They should also bring 10+ years of experience with:

  • Deep and lengthy knowledge of the financial services UK tax-efficient investing market, with specific experience in inheritance tax solutions through business relief
  • Existing relationships with key journalists and editorial leaders of business and financial media
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment with multiple stakeholders where no day is ever the same
  • Excellent verbal and written communications to executive audiences
  • Proven success in:
    • developing communications materials and press releases to influence and motivate political change for economic, social and environmental gain
    • developing and executing cross-channel corporate communications plans for retail investor audiences (in-house investment management experience preferred)
    • designing and project managing attendance/hosting of media conferences and events
    • design, production and post-production of video and audio content with agency suppliers
    • social media content creation and campaign performance
    • managing PR, public affairs and digital agency relationships
    • Canva, Microsoft Suite including Co-Pilot or AI equivalent, and use of AI tools for research, synthesis and creative production
    • Ability to design and manage web content and campaign materials within Umbraco CMS
    • Use of SEO as communications amplifier
    • Excellent budget management and organisational skills
