The Digital and Technology Group (DTG) is central to the Agency's work. It delivers optimised IT infrastructure and enables the secure use of data, supporting scientists, inspectors and colleagues across the organisation to provide world-class services that improve outcomes for patients and the public.

DTG played a vital role in supporting the rapid approval of COVID-19 vaccines in 2020 and in helping the UK establish its own medicines and medical devices approval systems after leaving the EU. The Digital and Service Design Group (D&SDG) provides services through a practice-based model, including user research, service design, business analysis, change management and product management. D&SDG owns the division's customer experience and is strengthening in-house capability in digital product management and user-centred design.

Job Description

The post holder will be engaged in delivering business analysis services and will therefore be pivotal in understanding and analysing user and business needs. The post holder will work directly with key stakeholders at the MHRA to understand and document business opportunities that align with the Agency's overall strategy, as well as the specific requirements of the MHRA's business divisions.

Working alongside Product Managers, Service Designers, User Researchers and other digital specialists, the post holder will drive business analysis activities, providing constructive challenge to the business in defining and documenting efficient business processes and work with stakeholders to resolve business issues that are required to deliver programmes and projects.

The post holder will assist in developing innovative and strategic approaches to solving business problems using technology. They will work alongside colleague within the MHRA's digital and technology division to ensure the best and most cost-effective technology solutions are developed and deployed. Always putting the end user at the heart of what we design, the post holder for this role, will need to be a highly collaborative individual, who enjoys working with a range of stakeholders including scientific and regulatory specialists and technologists.

Key Responsibilities and Results Areas

Business Analysis - Produce business analysis artefacts at the appropriate stages, working with all levels of the business to define and document outputs such as user stories, journey maps, requirements catalogues, process maps and business case inputs.

Business Process Modelling and Product Identification - Work with digital colleagues, MDT including service design, to identify, compare and recommend the most appropriate processes and delivery methods, including measuring and evaluating outcomes.

Transition to Delivery - Coordinate the smooth transition of business analysis activities from design through to implementation and delivery, working with testing partners, training partners, change managers and the business to define acceptance criteria, tests and business readiness principles.

Stakeholder Engagement and Communication - Lead business analysis engagement by influencing and managing stakeholder relationships, ensuring outputs are captured, agreed and aligned with stakeholders' levels of interest and influence.

Good Practice and Practice Development - Contribute to the ongoing development of the Business Analysis Framework by providing information, guidance and support for business analysis services. Apply and champion agreed agile methodologies, tools and frameworks appropriate to the organisational context.

Business Knowledge - Develop broad knowledge of key business areas to understand needs, identify how IT systems and services can best support them, and implement opportunities for improvement.
