About Our Client

The Enforcement Conduct Board (ECB), which has been established to provide independent oversight of enforcement agents (formerly known as bailiffs) and the enforcement industry.

The ECB was formally launched in November 2022. Our mission is to ensure that all those who are subject to enforcement action in England and Wales are treated fairly.

In January 2025 we launched our complaints handling function and are now receiving approximately 100 complaints per month.

Job Description

  • Conduct thorough investigations into complaints regarding enforcement agents, determining if processes were followed correctly and if individuals were treated fairly.
  • Weigh complex evidence against relevant standards and regulations to reach robust, fair, and impartial conclusions.
  • Deliver empathetic, well-structured, and evidence-based decisions, explaining the "why" behind outcomes to both individuals and enforcement firms.
  • Maintain professional relationships with creditors, enforcement firms, and independent complaint handlers.
  • Manage a demanding and varied caseload effectively, ensuring all work meets relevant targets

The Successful Applicant

  • Demonstrable experience in casework or undertaking formal investigations, ideally within a regulated or ombudsman environment.
  • The ability to analyse complex information, identify core issues, and summarise outcomes with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Exceptional verbal and written skills, with a proven ability to demonstrate empathy while remaining clear, persuasive, and professional.
  • Experience providing high-quality service to individuals who may be angry or upset, finding constructive solutions to difficult problems.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise competing tasks, and thrive in a remote-working environment.

What's on Offer

  • £40,000 - £50,000 (depending on skills and experience).
  • 25 days annual leave (increasing by one day per year of service, up to 30 days) plus bank holidays.
  • Primarily home-based, with travel within the UK 1-2 days per month (fully expensed).
