Job Description

Financial Accounting & Reporting

  • Support the Management Accountant in the preparation of accurate monthly management accounts, journals, and supporting reconciliations.
  • Coordinate month-end and year-end close processes and maintain key balance sheet and control accounts.
  • Support the preparation of statutory accounts and provide information for internal and external audits.



Banking & Reconciliations

  • Complete and review bank reconciliations, resolving reconciling items promptly.
  • Monitor cash flow and support treasury activities as required.



VAT & Compliance

  • Prepare and submit VAT returns in accordance with HMRC requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with charity accounting regulations, accounting standards, internal controls, and financial policies.



Systems & Process Improvement

  • Maintain the integrity of financial systems and data.
  • Identify and implement improvements to financial processes, controls, systems, and reporting.



Team Management

· Responsible for line management, coaching and development of direct reports.

· Review work, provide training, and foster a collaborative and high-performing finance team

Stakeholder Support

  • Build effective relationships with budget holders and operational teams, providing financial advice and support.
  • Respond to finance queries and contribute to finance business partnering across the organisation.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Financial Accountant should have:

  • A professional qualification in accounting or finance, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards and regulations.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and financial management tools.
  • Attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate financial information clearly.
