The Interim Management Accountant will play a critical role in supporting the financial operations of a retail business, focusing on accurate reporting and financial analysis. This temporary position, based in Bromgrove, offers a hybrid work environment and an opportunity to contribute to key decision-making processes.

Job Description

  • Responsible for preparing month‑end close activities and producing Management Information reports for review by the Financial Controller.
  • Conducted detailed cost and profitability analysis for key projects and any highlighted areas requiring investigation.
  • Completed quarterly royalty reporting packs for approval.
  • Performed monthly reviews of consignment stock levels and prepared summary reports for Directors and Account Managers.
  • Delivered month‑end reporting for major customer groups and other significant accounts.
  • Overseeing both accounts payable and receivable functions, including the administration and upkeep of supplier and customer accounts.
  • Preparing monthly accruals and prepayments to support accurate financial reporting.
  • Posting and reconciling all company credit card activity.
  • Completing monthly balance sheet reconciliations to ensure financial integrity.
  • Handling confidential documentation and providing support to the Assistant Management Accountant when required.
  • Assisting in the credit control cycle by monitoring aged debt, highlighting concerns, and managing key customer accounts directly.
  • Providing full cover for the Assistant Management Accountant during periods of absence.
  • Carrying out a range of additional tasks to support smooth day‑to‑day financial operations

The Successful Applicant

A successful Interim Management Accountant should have:

  • A professional qualification or studying towards (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, or ACA).
  • Experience in management accounting within the retail industry.
  • Proficiency in financial software and advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in reporting.
