Job Description

Key responsibilities of the Scientific Communications Officer include:

  • Develop and deliver scientific communication materials tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Manage the organisation's website and social media channels, ensuring content is up-to-date and engaging.
  • Coordinate the production of newsletters, press releases, and reports.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to create content that aligns with organisational objectives.
  • Support the planning and delivery of events and workshops.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of communication strategies and suggest improvements.
  • Act as a point of contact for media and public enquiries.
  • Ensure all communications adhere to the organisation's branding and messaging guidelines.

The Successful Applicant

The successful Scientific Communications Officer will have:

  • A qualification in structural biology or a scientific related topic.
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly in writing, editing, presenting and proof-reading.
  • Be confident with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organisational, prioritisation and timekeeping skills.
  • Can-do attitude to work, open to learn new skills.
  • Strong technical skills including use of Microsoft Office.
  • Previous experience in a communications role or project management skills is desirable.
