Job Description

Strategy

  • Contribute to setting, implementing and reviewing the FinReg expertise strategy and annual plan in alignment with the broader firm strategy.



Thought Leadership

  • Monitor and analyse legal, regulatory and market developments, sharing timely insights with the practice.
  • Horizon‑scan to identify emerging trends and strategic opportunities.
  • Design and deliver client campaigns, publications, updates, and thought leadership materials (primarily UK and EU focused, but including global comparative content where relevant).
  • Draft articles for the firm's website, LinkedIn and relevant industry publications.



Client Engagement

  • Contribute to client training, pitches and strategic client development.
  • Support leadership in designing market‑facing client engagement strategies.
  • Collaborate across practices and regions to identify cross‑selling and growth opportunities.



External Engagement

  • Represent the practice at industry events, professional and trade bodies.
  • Build external networks within the financial services sector and share insights internally.



Legal Learning & Coaching

  • Foster a culture of continuous learning across the practice.
  • Enhance the FinReg training programme for junior and senior lawyers.
  • Deliver introductory and topical training to other practice groups.
  • Create engaging materials that align with the firm's brand.
  • Provide technical guidance and coaching to lawyers at all levels.



Knowledge Sharing, Tools & Technology

  • Develop and maintain systems to support effective knowledge sharing.
  • Test, implement and champion tools and technologies that improve efficiency.
  • Assess how emerging technologies, including AI, affect FinReg work.



Risk Mitigation, Consistency & Efficiency

  • Research developments and collaborate with partners to develop coherent policies and guidance.
  • Draft, maintain and update standard documents, precedents and know‑how.
  • Ensure consistency of approach across the UK, Europe and globally.



Firmwide Expertise Initiatives

  • Contribute to broader firmwide and cross‑practice expertise projects and initiatives.

The Successful Applicant

Legal Experience

  • Qualified in the UK or an EU jurisdiction.
  • Technical ability equivalent to partner or counsel level.
  • Strong experience across key UK and EU regulatory regimes (e.g., MiFID, CRD/CRR, AIFMD, sustainability, financial crime, payments, e‑money, FinTech).
  • Deep interest in financial services, capital markets and delivering client service in innovative ways.
  • Significant experience of client‑facing work.
