Job Description

  • Provide comprehensive legal advice on contract law and related matters.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts and agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with local authority and legal frameworks.
  • Advise internal stakeholders on legal risks and mitigation strategies.
  • Manage contract disputes and provide resolution strategies.
  • Support procurement processes with legal expertise.
  • Collaborate with various departments to provide legal guidance.
  • Maintain accurate legal records and documentation.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Senior Lawyer Contracts should have:

  • Solicitor, Barrister or Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives (or equivalent qualifications) or demonstration of equivalent competence
  • Advanced and substantial knowledge of the particular area of law and knowledge of its application in a Local Authority context
  • Strong knowledge of public procurement and regulatory compliance.
  • Proven ability to manage complex legal matters and provide sound advice.
  • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Attention to detail and a methodical approach to legal work.
