Job Description

As Transport Manager, you will take ownership of daily transport operations, ensuring a safe, compliant, and customer-focused service. You will play a key role in delivering operational improvements, enhancing fleet performance, and supporting future growth plans.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing day-to-day transport operations to ensure high levels of service and operational efficiency.
  • Leading and developing a team of drivers, promoting performance, engagement, and compliance.
  • Monitoring transport KPIs and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Driving route optimisation and fleet utilisation to maximise operational effectiveness.
  • Managing transport compliance, vehicle maintenance, and health & safety standards.
  • Producing operational reports and performance analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Working closely with internal stakeholders to enhance processes, systems, and customer service delivery.
  • Supporting fleet growth and wider transport development projects.

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate is likely to demonstrate:

  • Previous experience in a Transport Manager, Transport Operations Manager, or similar leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of transport operations, fleet management, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience managing drivers and leading high-performing operational teams.
  • Commercial awareness with the ability to balance service, cost, and efficiency.
  • Excellent organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication abilities.
  • Advanced Excel and reporting capabilities would be advantageous.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with a focus on continuous improvement.
