About Us 

Bradford Children and Families Trust launched in April 2023. We are independent of Bradford Metropolitan District Council. We have our own distinct culture and values. Our sole purpose is to improve vulnerable children’s lives. This gives us the freedom and focus we need to provide a step change in the quality and delivery of services across our district. Shaping children’s services for the better.

Our Teams

Integrated Front Door

Deal with all new referrals to Children’s Services and make difficult decisions about how the needs of the child or young person are best met.

Duty and Assessment

Complete assessments of children and families referred to children’s services and work with them to agree to a plan for the future.

Child and Family

Work closely with children and families where there are safeguarding concerns and take action to reduce risks and ensure positive outcomes.

Children In Care

Ensure children in care are looked after as well as possible and work with families where rehabilitation at home is a possibility.

Care Leavers

Help young people leaving care find their feet in the world through education and employment opportunities.

Children With Complex Health And Disabilities

Work closely with children who have long-term care needs that impact their daily lives.

Safeguarding and Reviewing

Take the lead in child protection matters, ensuring the interests of children and young people come first at all times.

Residential and Short Breaks

Help give our district’s most vulnerable children a place to call home.

Fostering

Find suitable placements for children and make sure they are getting the care they need.

Pension 

Admitted Body into the West Yorkshire Pension Scheme 17.1% employer contribution.

Holidays

Annual Leave starts at 25 days and rises to max of 32 days with service. (plus, public holidays). 

Leave 

A range of other types of leave are also available in our policies from Maternity, Paternity, Shared Parental, Adoption and Fostering Leave.

TOIL is taken in some services. In addition, Banking of Leave, Hospital appointments and blood donor sessions can be applied for as well as unpaid leave.

Volunteering for work in the Community attracts paid time off.

Employees have the right to take reasonable time off work to deal with an emergency involving a dependant. This leave is unpaid. There is no set limit to how much time can be taken off. In most cases, it should be no longer than a day or two, followed, if necessary, by other contractual leave entitlements (annual leave, bereavement leave etc.), but this will depend on individual circumstances 

Committed to your Health and Wellbeing 

The Trust is committed to safeguarding the health and safety of all its employees and those who may be affected by its activities. 
The Occupational Safety Team is a corporate team of professional Occupational Safety Advisers who are the competent persons acting on behalf of the Trust.

Employee Health and Wellbeing service The Employee Health and Wellbeing Service is a specialist area of medicine and is concerned with health and work and looking at the working environment and its effect on employees’ health. The health of an employee affects their ability to perform the duties of their post.

The service exists to support the health and wellbeing of employees at work. It is used by managers and staff to effectively manage health issues which may be having an impact on an employee’s ability to attend work or manage their role effectively.

Mediation services 

The mediation service is a free, confidential service for all employees who feel they are experiencing problems at work. It can help with issues such as personality clashes, communication difficulties, bullying, harassment and discrimination.
It offers early, informal assistance before problems can escalate into major issues for all concerned. Employees are offered an appointment so that they can talk about their concerns, identify the changes they desire and consider their options for change.

If mediation is chosen, the service will facilitate a joint meeting with the employee and the other. 

Access to work mental health support service. 

If you’re an employee of the Trust and feel your wellbeing is impacting your work, or stopping you from attending work, we’re here for you. 

Our virtual confidential one-to-one workplace support appointments are designed to help you perform well within your job role whilst managing your wellbeing.

Hybrid Working

The Trust is committed to adopting hybrid working practices and recognises the benefits in empowering employees to work flexibly, where appropriate in the context of service needs and in agreement with your manager. Flexible ways to work either at home or in the office or both are available where this is possible. This supports our employees work/home lifestyle and your health and wellbeing.
