Job Description

The successful candidate would be advising lenders on development projects, sitting closely alongside the firm's lender and real estate teams rather than operating in a pure construction silo. This offers exposure to:

  • Development finance transactions
  • Lender-side risk analysis
  • Real estate finance
  • Security packages
  • Direct lender relationships
  • Cross-selling opportunities across property and finance teams



This would suit a lawyer who enjoys the commercial side of construction work and wants to become a specialist adviser to banks, lenders, and development funders rather than focusing solely on traditional construction contracts

The Successful Applicant

  • Reviewing, drafting and negotiating JCT and other construction contracts
  • Advising on professional appointments and consultant agreements
  • Negotiating collateral warranties and third-party rights
  • Handling assignments, novations, and step-in rights
  • Advising on performance security arrangements and contractual risk mitigation
  • Reviewing professional indemnity insurance provisions
  • Drafting and negotiating development and construction-related agreements
  • Undertaking construction due diligence and preparing lender reports
  • Advising on construction-related conditions precedent
  • Supporting development and real estate finance transactions
  • Reviewing property and security documentation
  • Liaising with monitoring surveyors and other professional advisers throughout the transaction lifecycle
