Job Description

  • Provide expert ER advice across conduct, performance, grievance, and absence cases.
  • Lead and progress casework with a strong delivery focus, ensuring milestones are met.
  • Manage formal investigations and hearings with full procedural rigour.
  • Use strong problem-solving skills to guide managers toward informed, compliant decisions.
  • Support HRBPs by advising on performance plans and clear, measurable objectives.
  • Act as an ER subject matter expert across the wider organisation.
  • Drive early resolution through coaching, mediation, and proactive engagement.
  • Design and deliver ER and people-management training for managers.
  • Oversee the ER case tracker to ensure timely, risk-based case progression.
  • Collect and analyse ER data, identify trends, and provide insights to improve practice and policy.
  • Contribute to reviewing and developing HR policies, tool-kits, and guidance.



The Successful Applicant

A successful Employee Relations Lead should have:

  • Strong, up-to-date knowledge of employment law, ACAS codes, and HR policies.
  • Proven experience managing complex employee relations casework, ideally within the Civil Service or wider Public Sector.
  • Ability to influence, advise, and challenge senior stakeholders effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities, with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Relevant professional HR qualifications (e.g., CIPD) are desirable.
