Job Description

  • Provide legal advice and representation in family law cases, including divorce, child custody, and financial settlements.
  • Draft legal documents, including agreements and court applications, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal standards.
  • Manage a caseload of clients, ensuring timely and effective resolution of matters.
  • Attend court hearings and represent clients in legal proceedings as required.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of family law legislation and case law developments.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and other professionals to achieve the best outcomes for clients.
  • Provide clear and empathetic communication to clients, ensuring they understand their legal options and outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and professional standards in the delivery of legal services.

The Successful Applicant

The Family Solicitor should be:

  • A solicitor or equivalent with 2 to 6 years PQE in family law.
  • Experienced in managing a personal caseload with minimal supervision.
  • Confident advising clients on financial provision and family law matters.
  • Skilled in building strong client relationships and delivering excellent client care.
  • Familiar with Sheriff Court procedures; knowledge of Court of Session procedures would be advantageous.
  • An organised and commercially aware legal professional with strong communication skills.
