Job Description

  • Lead the day-to-day management of the finance function, ensuring robust financial controls and accurate reporting.
  • Produce monthly management accounts, forecasts, and financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Partner with budget holders across the organisation to support effective financial planning and performance monitoring.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of annual budgets and longer-term financial plans.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and internal financial requirements.
  • Monitor cash flow and support the effective management of organisational resources.
  • Drive continuous improvement across finance processes, systems, and reporting capabilities.
  • Support the preparation of year-end accounts and coordinate activities with external auditors.
  • Provide financial guidance and support to non-finance stakeholders to improve financial understanding across the organisation.
  • Contribute to projects and initiatives that strengthen operational efficiency and financial sustainability.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Finance Manager should have:

  • Part-qualified status in a recognised accounting qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, or ACA.
  • Previous experience in a Finance Manager, Management Accountant, or similar finance role.
  • Strong knowledge of management accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial controls.
  • The ability to interpret financial data and communicate findings clearly to both finance and non-finance audiences.
  • Experience identifying and implementing process improvements within a finance function.
  • Strong systems skills and confidence working with financial software and reporting tools.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • A collaborative and proactive approach, with the ability to build positive working relationships across an organisation.
  • Experience within the charity or not-for-profit sector would be advantageous but is not essential.
