Save Job Back to Search Job Description Summary Similar JobsFinancial Controller - Not-for-profit sector - East SussexACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified accountantAbout Our Client· Report to the CFO and manage four financial specialist roles.· Act as subject matter expert on financial accounting.· Be part of the organisations Leadership Management Team responsible for contributing to the development of the organisations business plan.Job Description· Manage an operational budget of £400k· Direct reports comprise Treasury Specialist, Accounting & Systems Specialist, Sales Ledger Specialist and Housing Revenue Assistant· Manage preparation of monthly management accounts and production of quarterly, and annual financial statements.· Produce variance analysis to compare actual results with budgets and forecasts, liaising with budget holders as required.· Contribute to the production of financial performance data, identifying trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement.· Collaborate with the Head of Financial Performance to support budget setting, forecasting and long-term planning.· Determine rates to charge for rents and service charges to support the Housing division.· Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal controls.· Ensure internal controls are comprehensive and up to date, with appropriate separation of decision and checking.· Take a lead role in managing relationships with banks and auditors.· Oversee the internal and external financial audit process by providing necessary documentation and explanations.· Ensure that software updates are undertaken so that finance systems are up to date and legally compliant.· Ensure weekly batch and payment runs are undertaken, and transactions are shown correctly on financial systems.· Supervise the billing and debt management processes to optimise revenue and cashflow.· Supervise the management of the treasury function, covering cashflow planning, banking, credit cards and loan finance arrangements.· Monitor regulatory and financial standards to ensure compliance and good practice.· Occasionally manage formal disciplinary and grievance investigations and chair probation hearings with support from the People Employment Team.The Successful ApplicantA successful Financial Controller should have:A recognised accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA).· Financial function management (min. 3-5 years).· Financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.· Financial and management accounting practices.· Accurate and legally compliant financial accounting practices in place.· Maintain audit readiness by ensuring all financial records and processes are compliant with internal and external audit requirements.· Maintaining control of budgets and expenditure.· Production of accurate financial data in a timely fashion to inform management on decision making.Knowledge of:· Accountancy software and tools.· Financial statements, reporting standards, and disclosure requirements.· Banking and audit processes and risk assessment.· Tax laws and regulations.· Analysis of costs, budgets, and performance metrics.What's on OfferCompetitive salary of £60,000 to £65,000, dependent on the level of experience.Hybrid working - Up to 3 days each week working from home27 days holidayBlue light cardGenerous pensionFree parkingA chance to work for a particularly rewarding organisation in the local areaPeople are at the heart of Michael Page.
