Job Description

The role of General Counsel will include the following responsibilities:

  • Act as the sole in-house lawyer, taking ownership of legal matters across the business.
  • Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts and agreements.
  • Advise on employment, intellectual property, property and data protection matters.
  • Manage regulatory, compliance and corporate governance requirements.
  • Oversee disputes and litigation, working with external counsel where appropriate.
  • Identify and manage legal and commercial risk, providing pragmatic, solutions-focused advice.
  • Partner closely with senior management and stakeholders, supporting commercial decision-making across the organisation.

The Successful Applicant

Suitable candidates for the role will have the following qualifications and experience:

  • A qualified solicitor in the UK or similar jurisdiction.
  • Proven experience operating in an in-house commercial setting.
  • Strong experience in Commercial law is essential.
  • Proven experience in providing high calibre, broad generalist support to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience in supporting on areas such as Employment, Compliance and Governance matters would be beneficial.
