This is a new role and due to the expansion of the business, we are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Procurement to lead the delivery of a safe, efficient, and cost-effective procurement and supply service across the organisation. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing/implementing procurement strategy, ensuring continuity of supply, and maintaining compliance with all relevant regulatory and governance standards.

Job Description

The role of Head of Procurement will be responsible for :

  1. Lead the development and implementation of the procurement strategy.
  2. Ensure procurement services align with organisational, regional, and national priorities
  3. Oversee the procurement of medicines and pharmaceutical products in accordance with national contracts and procurement frameworks.
  4. Ensure continuity of supply and effective management of medicine shortages and supply disruptions.
  5. Develop and maintain strong supplier and wholesaler relationships.
  6. Lead contract negotiations and monitor supplier performance against KPIs and service agreements.



The Successful Applicant

A successful Head of Procurement should have:

  1. Significant senior-level experience in pharmacy procurement or medicines supply chain management.
  2. Experience managing large procurement budgets and supplier contracts.
  3. Demonstrated leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
  4. Strong understanding of medicines procurement frameworks and procurement practices.
  5. Experience delivering cost savings and operational efficiencies.
  6. Excellent negotiation and influencing skills.
  7. Strong analytical and financial management capability.
  8. Ability to manage complex operational challenges under pressure.
  9. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
