Save Job Back to Search Job Description Summary Similar JobsH&S expert needed for growing manufacturing businessBased onsite in St Albans for an initial 3 month contractAbout Our ClientA growing manufacturing business operating in the Healthcare sector, based out of St Albans.Job DescriptionThe Health & Safety Advisor will be responsible for working in a hands-on capacity, conducting audits, identifying compliance gaps, implementing effective solutions, and driving continuous improvement to maintain regulatory compliance and inspection readiness. You will:Establish effective and sustainable frameworks and processes to support departmental Health & Safety representatives in embedding and maintaining high Health & Safety standards across the organisation.Take ownership of achieving compliance with UK HSE regulations within the 3-month contract periodLead all activities required to bring the organisation to inspection-ready statusEnsure compliance gaps are resolved and improvements embeddedConduct detailed audits across laboratories, production, warehouse, office and all other facilitiesReview and ensure adequacy of: Health & Safety Policies, SOPs, Risk Assessments, COSHH documentation,Identify and prioritise compliance risks and gapsCollaborate with relevant stakeholders to address, implement, and close identified gaps in line with HSE requirements.Update, standardise, and embed compliant processes and documentationEnsure solutions are practical and sustainable beyond the contractReview and strengthen training systems and recordsDeliver or support: Health & Safety Awareness Training, Workplace Safety & Controls, Ensure compliance with PPE, signage, fire safety, and first aid requirementsVerify implementation and effectiveness of all safety controlsEnsure COSHH and GMP-compliant handling of chemicals and materialsImprove housekeeping and facility standardsStrengthen waste management complianceReview incident reporting and investigation processesImplement robust root cause analysis and corrective actionsStrengthen risk management systemsSupport H&S Representative and HSE Committee (if applicable)Provide regular progress updates to leadershipTrack and report audit findings and actions through to completionEnsure full compliance and adherence with all company policies, procedures, guidelines and SOP's.Undertake other duties that are commensurate with the level and responsibilities of the role.The Successful ApplicantThe interim Health & Safety Advisor should have:Relevant qualification in Health & Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH or equivalent)Proven experience in Health & Safety, Compliance, or Audit rolesStrong knowledge of COSHH, and regulatory frameworksExperience delivering rapid compliance improvements in GMP facilitiesBackground in regulated environments (pharmaceutical/laboratory preferred)Strong delivery and implementation focusAbility to work independently and drive outcomes quicklyExcellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skillsStrong analytical and problem-solving capabilityHighly organised and results-drivenAvailable immediately or on short noticeWhat's on OfferA salary ranging from £55,000 to £65,000 per annum.Site based role in St Albans, Immediate Start3 month contract initially with potential for extensionContactMelanie ParkesQuote job refJN-072026-7062162Phone number+44 113 388 9025Job summaryJob functionEngineering & ManufacturingSubsectorHealth, Safety & EnvironmentSectorIndustrial / ManufacturingLocationSt AlbansContract typeInterimConsultant nameMelanie ParkesConsultant phone+44 113 388 9025Job referenceJN-072026-7062162
