About Our Client

The company is a well-established organisation within the business services industry, known for its commitment to excellence and providing comprehensive support to its employees. As a medium-sized company, it offers a professional yet collaborative work environment, with plenty of development opportunities as they continue to growth. They are currently actively recruiting for a HR Advisor to act as the main point of contact for circa 300 employees, providing guidance and support on the HR lifecycle, in particular with high volume Employee Relations cases. You will be working closely alongside the HR Business Partner who will offer support with any cases that require escalation. This is a hybrid role, covering the Northern Home Counties (Essex, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire) so candidates must be comfortable with travelling. This would be well suited for an established HR Advisor, or someone looking to progress their HR career and gain more exposure to Employee Relations (basic level HR experience is required as a minimum).

Job Description

  • Manage a high‑volume, fast‑paced ER caseload (typically 10-12 live cases) across multiple sites, leading cases end‑to‑end including absence management, performance issues, flexible working requests, grievances and disciplinaries
  • Act as a confident, visible HR presence on site, attending offices independently across the Northern Home Counties, building credibility with managers and handling challenging stakeholder environments
  • Provide early‑stage ER support and coaching to operational managers, guiding them through meetings, investigations and process while ensuring policy and best practice are followed
  • Draft high‑quality written documentation, including meeting notes, investigation summaries and outcome letters, demonstrating accuracy, professionalism and clarity
  • Support and advise on lower‑level ER matters, escalating more complex cases where required while maintaining ownership of day‑to‑day case progression
  • Build effective relationships with stakeholders across two operational directorates, working closely with senior leaders, People Business Partners and fellow People Advisors
  • Operate flexibly across office, home and travel‑based working, with regular site presence required and the ability to travel by car across a large regional patch
  • Contribute beyond ER where appropriate, supporting wider people initiatives and projects (e.g. data analysis, process improvement, L&D, OD or recruitment), with scope to develop longer‑term strategic exposure

The Successful Applicant

A successful HR Advisor should have:

  • An ER‑focused HR professional with proven experience managing employee relations cases end‑to‑end, ideally with 18+ months' hands‑on ER exposure (or equivalent depth in a fast‑paced operational environment)
  • Confident, resilient and assertive, able to manage difficult conversations, push back when needed and build credibility with operational managers in challenging site environments
  • Comfortable working at pace and with ambiguity, handling multiple live cases simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and quality
  • Strong written communication skills, with experience producing clear, professional notes, investigation summaries and outcome letters
  • Happy to work independently and autonomously, including attending sites alone and acting as the sole HR presence when required
  • A practical, solutions‑focused HR generalist mindset, able to support lower‑level cases while knowing when to escalate more complex matters
  • Flexible and travel‑ready, with access to a car and willingness to travel across the Home Counties as part of a regional role
  • Open to development and progression, whether already ER‑heavy or earlier in their HR career (including HR administrators or junior advisors with the right attitude, pace and learning agility)

What's on Offer

  • Competitive salary, negotiable depending on experience
  • Permanent position offering long-term career stability.
  • Opportunity to work within a respected business services organisation.
  • Supportive work environment with a focus on professional growth.
  • Please note - there will have a 'home office' closest to where the successful candidate is based, and all travel to other sites will be expensed

If you are an experienced HR professional looking for a rewarding role in the Northern Home Counties, we encourage you to apply and take the next step in your career.
