Job Description

  • Lead the operational management of the school site and facilities.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety, statutory, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage planned preventative maintenance (PPM) programmes and reactive repairs.
  • Oversee contractors and service providers, ensuring high standards of performance and value for money.
  • Manage facilities budgets and monitor expenditure.
  • Develop and implement estate improvement and sustainability initiatives.
  • Ensure security, cleaning, grounds maintenance, and waste management services are effectively delivered.
  • Act as the lead contact for site-related emergencies and business continuity planning.
  • Support school events and activities, ensuring facilities are available and operational.
  • Maintain accurate records relating to compliance, inspections, certifications, and maintenance activities.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Interim Estates & Facilities Manager should have:

  • Experience managing facilities, estates, or property operations within a school, education, public sector, or commercial environment.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety legislation and statutory compliance requirements.
  • Experience managing contractors, suppliers, and service-level agreements.
  • Knowledge of building systems including HVAC, fire safety, security, electrical, and mechanical services.
  • Strong budget management and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • IOSH, NEBOSH, IWFM, or similar professional qualifications (desirable).
  • A proactive and customer-focused approach.

What's on Offer

  • A salary of £50,000 - £55,000, dependent on the level of experience.
  • Temporary contract in London.
