Save Job Back to Search Job Description Summary Similar JobsMake a difference during a pivotal period!Drive process improvement!About Our ClientOur ClientWell established organisation, trading for a significant timeBased in Berkshire (with offices across Reading, Woodley and more)Collaborative working environmentClose-knit teamJob DescriptionInterim Payroll (PART TIME) Provide operational oversight and support for the end-to-end payroll process across two payrolls, of approximately 300 employees.Review and document existing payroll processes, identifying risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for simplification.Reduce reliance on highly manual and spreadsheet-driven processes by introducing improved controls and documentation.Support the implementation and successful go-live for September 2026.Work closely with internal stakeholders and system implementation partners to ensure payroll readiness.Manage payroll activities in line with key monthly timelines, including:Payroll reporting cycle (typically 15th-16th of each month).Monthly pay runs and pay day deadlines (typically 22nd-23rd of each month)Support the transition from an in-house to outsourced payroll operating model, ensuring continuity of service and knowledge transfer.Review current arrangements for P11Ds and benefits administration, supporting the transition to payrolled benefits where appropriate.Oversee pension administration processes, including Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) and Teachers' Pension Scheme (TPS) requirements.Liaise with external providers to ensure pension and payroll responsibilities are clearly defined and effectively managed.Identify compliance risks and ensure payroll processes align with HMRC and pension scheme requirements.Provide recommendations for longer-term payroll operating models and process improvements.The Successful ApplicantInterim Payroll (PART TIME) Extensive payroll management or senior payroll administration experience.Proven experience supporting payroll system implementations, migrations, or transformations.Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation and HMRC requirements.Experience managing payrolls within complex or public-sector related environments.Strong knowledge of pensions, ideally including:Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS)Teachers' Pension Scheme (TPS)Experience managing payroll through periods of organisational change.Advanced Excel and payroll process improvement skills.Ability to quickly assess and stabilise payroll operations with minimal supervision.ABLE TO ADHERE TO FLEX/PART TIME REQUIREMENTS (typically 2-3 days per week)ROLLING INTERIM ASSIGNMENTCAN COMMUTE TO WOODLEYWhat's on OfferInterim Payroll (PART TIME)Start Date: ASAPPart Time - typically 2-3 days per weekWoodley based - 1x day per week minimum in the officeFree parking on siteInterim rolling contract - minimum 3-4 monthsPay: ranging £18-22 per hour depending on exp.ContactOmar SheikhQuote job refJN-062026-7052375Phone number+44 118 933 7025Job summaryJob functionAccountingSubsectorPayrollSectorRetailWhereInternationalContract typeTemporaryConsultant nameOmar SheikhConsultant phone+44 118 933 7025Job referenceJN-062026-7052375
