Job Description

Key ResponsibilitiesLegal Updates and Market Developments

  • Monitor legal, regulatory and market developments relevant to private equity
  • Produce and share horizon‑scanning briefings, topical updates and analysis for internal and client audiences
  • Contribute to and support thought leadership initiatives



Strategic Precedents and Know‑How

  • Maintain and develop the private equity precedents and know‑how bank
  • Coordinate precedent reviews and updates, ensuring materials reflect current law, regulation and market practice
  • Leverage legal tech and subject‑matter expertise across the team to ensure quality and consistency



Training and Knowledge Sharing

  • Design, coordinate and deliver training for lawyers across the corporate practice
  • Contribute to induction programmes for new joiners, trainees and apprentices
  • Work with practice leaders to identify knowledge gaps and develop targeted resources
  • Act as a mentor on legal analysis, research and process improvement



Cross‑Team and Firmwide Collaboration

  • Facilitate knowledge sharing across Private Equity, Funds, Tax, Finance and Corporate M&A
  • Work closely with the firmwide KM team to align and integrate knowledge initiatives



Legal Tech, Innovation and Process Improvement

  • Champion the use of legal technology, including AI and document automation tools
  • Lead and participate in innovation projects aimed at improving efficiency, knowledge delivery and client service
  • Support training and adoption of new tools across the team



Profile Building and BD Support

  • Develop knowledge outputs aligned with business development objectives (briefings, client alerts, seminars)
  • Support client knowledge‑sharing events and external profile‑raising activities
  • Engage with relevant professional and industry groups where appropriate



Knowledge Resource Management

  • Ensure effective storage, accessibility and version control of knowledge and training materials
  • Conduct audits of resources and implement best practice in knowledge management and compliance



Reporting and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Provide regular updates to practice leadership on knowledge initiatives, training impact and innovation activity
  • Maintain proactive communication with key stakeholders across the practice



The role will report into senior Private Equity Knowledge Lawyers and designated Knowledge Partners, who lead the knowledge strategy for the private equity practice. For day‑to‑day integration and support, the Knowledge Lawyer will sit within the broader private equity team, working closely with partners and associates.

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate will be:

  • A qualified solicitor (England & Wales) with at least 5 years' experience in private equity or a closely aligned corporate practice
  • Experienced in a top‑tier transactional environment; prior PSL/Knowledge Lawyer experience is advantageous but not essential
  • Technically strong in private equity and private M&A, with excellent drafting, research and analytical skills
  • Able to communicate complex legal issues clearly and commercially to varied audiences
  • Highly organised, with strong project management skills and the ability to balance competing priorities
  • A strategic thinker, comfortable advising and influencing senior stakeholders
  • Interested in legal technology and innovation, with experience of or enthusiasm for AI and document automation tools
  • Collaborative, proactive and committed to mentoring and developing others
  • Aligned with inclusive working practices and flexible/agile working arrangements
