Job Description

As the Manufacturing Engineer you will be tasked with the following -

· Analyse, develop, improve, and maintain manufacturing processes across CNC Machining, Welding, Electropolishing, and Inspection operations.

· Identify and implement process improvements to increase productivity, quality, efficiency, throughput, and operational performance.

· Standardise manufacturing methods, best practices, process flow maps, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.

· Support the introduction of new products, processes, equipment, technologies, automation, and manufacturing investment projects.

· Lead continuous improvement projects using Lean Manufacturing principles and support improvement initiatives across all production areas.

· Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventative actions for operational issues, customer complaints, non-conformances, weld defects, rework, and recurring quality concerns.

· Work with Production Managers, Team Leaders, Planning, Quality, Engineering, Welding, Machine Shop, Electropolishing, and Inspection teams to improve process performance and consistency.

· Optimise CNC machining processes, including machine utilisation, efficiency, cycle times, downtime, tooling, capability studies, process validation, throughput, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).

· Support welding process improvements, including welding productivity, Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), defect reduction, quality performance, and rework reduction.

· Develop and improve electropolishing procedures, process controls, bath performance, cycle times, production flow, throughput, records, and quality outcomes.

· Support quality and inspection activities, including inspection plans, quality control processes, internal and external audits, and compliance with customer, regulatory, and company quality requirements.

· Work with Planning and Operations teams to balance production requirements, manufacturing capacity, resource utilisation, bottlenecks, and production performance.

· Collect, analyse, and report production and quality data, including key performance indicators (KPIs), performance trends, dashboards, visual management tools, and improvement recommendations.

· Present findings, performance data, and improvement recommendations to management teams.

· Ensure process improvements are developed with health, safety, environmental, and quality compliance as a priority.

· Support risk assessments, safe systems of work, accident and near-miss investigations, and the promotion of safe working practices.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Manufacturing Engineer should have:

  • HNC/HND or Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or similar discipline.
  • Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement qualification (desirable).
  • IOSH Managing Safely (desirable).
  • Six Sigma Green Belt (desirable).



What's on Offer

  • Salary range: £45,000 to £55,000, dependent on the level of experience.
  • 26 days of holiday leave.
  • 5% pension contribution.
  • Bonus scheme.
  • Monday to Thursday: 08:00-16:30, Friday: 08:00-15:30.
