Job Description

* Manage all operational aspects of the facility and processes on site, including the methods and organisation of work.

* Ensure that the plant operates within the requirements of the Environmental Permit and all other Environmental Legislation.

* Ensure compliance with the company's Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Management Systems, Policies and Procedures, ensuring that systems are in place to maintain safe systems of work for employees and contract staff.

* Responsibility for driving through resolution of any technical issues affecting plant reliability and thermal performance with the site.

* Assist with planning and managing planned maintenance outages, including specification of work, quality control and co-ordination between all parties involved.

* Participate in the development, implementation and delivery of the site business plan, site maintenance budget and life cycle analysis, risk management plan, Business Management System (BMS), and other relevant senior management activities, to ensure delivery of strategic and business goals.

* Budget ownership for operational expenditure.

* Participate in the Management 'Standby' rota to cover any emergency situations that may arise;

* Participate, as required, in cross-company projects and initiatives.

* Be responsible, with support from HR, for recruitment, induction, appraisal, training of operational staff, employee relations, in accordance with company procedures.

* Provide direct line management support to key team members.

* Promote a culture of continual improvement within the team, identifying and proposing changes as appropriate to optimise operational efficiency and ensure cost effectiveness.

* Work to promote core values through your own actions and those of your team.

* Responsible for chairing the MPT review & Fuel lookahead meeting, Production call meeting and Shift handover (twice daily) meetings.

* Provide direct line management support to key team members.

* Be responsible, with support from HR, for recruitment, induction, appraisal, training of operational staff and employee relations, in accordance with company procedures

The Successful Applicant

o Degree in relevant Engineering discipline (or equivalent by exception), or qualified by experience

o Process engineering background, preferably in the renewable energy / power industries

o Proven experience of Pressure Systems, PSSR/ PED;

o Recognised H&S qualification to IOSH Managing Safely level and able to demonstrate robust appreciation of Health, Safety and Environmental procedures;

o Proven people management experience with demonstrable understanding of best practice in managing staff.

o Experience preparing detailed plans, reports and programs.

o Experience in managing contractors and consultants and dealing with conflict where it arises;

* Energetic and enthusiastic.

* Well versed to work in a high paced environment.

* Comfort with ambiguous, ever-changing situations.

* Self-starter individual with a can-do attitude.

* Deadline-driven, result oriented, able to multitask and delivers on the promises.

* Ability to break down and solve problems.

* A solid team player who's also an independent thinker.

* Excellent presentation and communication skills: English (verbal and written both).

* IT Proficient to manage everyday tasks (MS Office etc)

* Knowledge of and familiarity with waste management and EfW sector

* Good storyteller to explain issues at hand clearly and effectively.

* Financial literacy to understand and add value directly.

* Previous budgeting experience

* Experience of managing site Environmental Permits and OFGEM submissions

* Proven track record in managing projects with the ability to use Project Management tools.

* Experienced in managing operational teams, shift rotas, resource planning etc.

* Experience providing line management to a team, in line with HR best practice.

o Ability to influence groups and individuals within the organisation, in order to gain their commitment to deliver business objectives and the ability to positively influence and create behaviour and attitude changes;
