Job Description

  • Act as Interim Payroll Specialist, leading the delivery of an accurate, timely, and customer-focused payroll service
  • Ensure all salaries and pensions are processed correctly, on time, and in full compliance with HMRC and statutory regulations
  • Take sole responsibility for the organisation's payroll and pension schemes, ensuring operational efficiency and accuracy
  • Oversee and manage the payroll system, including process improvement and automation
  • Support smooth onboarding by ensuring accurate setup of new starters in payroll systems
  • Provide clear, expert payroll advice to colleagues and stakeholders across the organisation
  • Work closely with People Services, Finance, and wider teams to promote best practice and resolve payroll issues
  • Mentor and support People Coordinators, building payroll capability and confidence across the team
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and user experience
  • Manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines while maintaining a high standard of customer service
  • Resolve payroll queries efficiently, aiming for first-time resolution wherever possible
  • Demonstrate initiative and the ability to work independently, while collaborating effectively across teams
  • Contribute to an inclusive culture by delivering a reliable and supportive service to all colleagues
  • Working among the accountancy team
