City of London Permanent £140,000 - £170,000 per year View Job Description
A global consumer organisation is looking for an experienced PMO Leader to establish and lead the central PMO for a major business-led transformation enabled by SAP S/4HANA. The role will suit a proven transformation PMO leader who has operated on complex SAP programmes and can bring control, pace, assurance and constructive challenge to a large-scale global environment.
  • Lead the PMO for a global, £MM SAP S/4HANA transformation
  • Senior enterprise change role with direct exposure to leadership

About Our Client

Our client is a major global consumer organisation undertaking one of its most significant enterprise transformation programmes.

The programme is a multi-hundred-million-pound, global business transformation currently forecast to run for six years. It spans 50 markets, 20 manufacturing sites and approximately 20k SAP users.

This is not a technical SAP upgrade. It is an enterprise-wide, business-led transformation enabled by SAP S/4HANA, with wider scope across process, data, technology, AI and digital capability.

The programme is preparing to enter Design phase in Q4 2026 and is taking a robust stage gate approach to phase entry and exit.

Job Description

The PMO Leader will be responsible for establishing, operationalising and leading the PMO for the programme.

The role will lead a team covering programme performance metrics, RAIDD management, resource management and risk and issue management. It will also work closely with business and technical workstream leads, programme plan managers, design governance, programme governance, finance, procurement, architecture, transformation and third-party delivery partners.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Establishing and baselining the integrated programme plan, including critical path, resource loading and internal and external dependencies
  • Implementing the agreed PMO structure and strengthening PMO processes, controls, reporting and governance
  • Providing first line assurance over delivery activity, programme progress and adherence to agreed PMO processes
  • Leading resource management, dependency management, RAIDD management and programme performance reporting
  • Running key programme forums, including Change Board, Delivery Review and Dependency Review
  • Supporting effective governance across SteerCo, Design Authority and other senior programme forums
  • Challenging the quality, achievability and completeness of plans produced by delivery teams and third-party partners
  • Overseeing, challenging and measuring the effectiveness of the systems integration partner
  • Working constructively with the independent programme assurance partner and Internal Audit where required
  • Managing architecture-related dependencies across the programme, particularly around data, integration and release
  • Supporting stage gate readiness across Design, Build, Test, Deploy and deployment wave activity
  • Providing clear, evidence-based recommendations, including the confidence to recommend a delay or "no go" decision where appropriate
  • Building trusted relationships across senior programme leadership, business stakeholders, technology teams and external partners
  • In the first 90 days, the successful candidate will be expected to hire the core PMO team, baseline the integrated plan, establish effective resource levelling and embed a practical governance model that gives the programme clearer control and assurance.

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate will be an experienced transformation PMO leader with a strong background in large-scale SAP-enabled business transformation.

They will bring:

  • Proven experience establishing and leading PMO functions for complex, multinational transformation programmes
  • Strong experience on SAP programmes, ideally SAP S/4HANA-enabled transformation
  • Practical knowledge of SAP Activate and how it translates into typical programme phase activity, including Design, Build, Test and Deploy
  • Experience working on business-led, technology-enabled transformation rather than purely technical IT upgrades
  • Strong integrated planning, critical path, resource loading and dependency management capability
  • Experience leading PMO teams and building PMO capability in a complex programme environment
  • Experience working with systems integration partners and challenging supplier plans, delivery quality and effectiveness
  • Strong RAIDD, governance, assurance and programme control experience
  • Credibility across SAP programme risks, especially data, integration and release management
  • Real examples of intervening where programme delivery was at risk
  • Experience presenting to senior programme leaders and influencing executive-level stakeholders
  • Confidence to hold the line under pressure and support evidence-based go/no-go decisions
  • PMP certification
  • Existing right to work in the UK without visa sponsorship

Experience working on both the client side and consulting or systems integration side would be highly advantageous.SAP S/4HANA experience is strongly preferred, but the client will consider candidates with broader SAP transformation experience where they can clearly demonstrate PMO leadership, SAP delivery understanding and experience operating in a complex implementation environment. This role does not require SAP architecture expertise. Candidates must, however, be credible in managing architecture-related dependencies and risks across areas such as data, integration, release, controls and legacy systems. The successful candidate will be calm, structured and commercially credible. They will be able to challenge constructively, use facts and insight rather than opinion, and create confidence that issues are understood and being managed.

What's on Offer

  • Competitive salary ranging from £140,000 to £170,000 per annum + bonus
  • Opportunity to lead the PMO for a globally significant SAP S/4HANA-enabled transformation
  • Senior exposure across enterprise transformation, digital, technology, finance, audit and programme leadership
