Job Description

  • Lead the full cradle‑to‑grave bid process across the North region, ensuring compliant, high‑scoring submissions that align to business plan targets.
  • Partner with Business Unit Leads/Head of Estimating & Bids to develop win strategies, win themes, storyboards, and quality narratives.
  • Line‑manage and develop Bid Managers/Writers; support resource planning and capability uplift across the team.
  • Run Bid Launches and Mid‑Tender Reviews, agree deliverables and timelines, and ensure stakeholder alignment to programme dates.
  • Oversee answer planning, SME workshops and content curation; deliver polished, persuasive quality responses.
  • Coordinate with Estimating on pricing, CPs and value engineering; ensure commercial assumptions are accurately reflected in responses.
  • Maintain rigorous governance, pre‑submission compliance checks, and timely post‑tender clarifications.
  • Prepare and rehearse post‑tender presentations; coach presenters, align content to time and strategy.
  • Track bid performance, benchmark against competitors, and drive continuous improvement through lessons learned.
  • Own the Bid Library (case studies, CVs, project data sheets, photo library) and ensure Salesforce data stays current.
  • Provide regular progress updates to regional leadership; support knowledge forums and cross‑regional bids as needed.



The Successful Applicant

  • Proven Senior/Lead Bid professional with a track record of winning complex, multi‑disciplinary bids (public sector exposure essential).
  • Comfortable leading teams, coaching authors, and running structured reviews and governance.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills; sharp eye for compliance, clarity, and differentiation.
  • Strategic thinker who can translate win themes into compelling, evidence‑based narratives.
  • Thrives under deadline pressure; highly organised with strong programme discipline.
  • Stakeholder‑savvy: builds trust across estimating, operations, commercial, sustainability, and BD.
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word/PowerPoint/Excel) and familiar with Salesforce or similar CRM/reporting tools.
