Job Description

  • Provide legal advice on contentious data protection and privacy matters to a range of clients.
  • Manage and resolve data breach incidents, including liaising with regulatory bodies where necessary.
  • Advise on the implications of GDPR and other relevant data protection laws.
  • Handle disputes and litigation concerning data protection breaches and compliance issues.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including data processing agreements and privacy policies.
  • Support clients in responding to subject access requests and other data-related enquiries.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure effective legal support is provided.
  • Stay updated on changes in data protection legislation and advise on their impact.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Contentious Data Protection Lawyer should have:

  • Strong knowledge of data protection laws, including GDPR and related legislation.
  • Proven experience in handling contentious legal matters within the data protection field.
  • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills for legal documentation.
  • The ability to manage complex cases and provide clear, pragmatic advice to clients.
  • A qualified solicitor status with a practising certificate in England and Wales.
  • An analytical mindset with a detail-oriented approach to legal issues.
