About Our Client

This opportunity is with a medium sized organisation in the not-for-profit sector. They are dedicated to making a meaningful impact through their work and require a competent Financial Controller to ensure their financial processes are efficient.

Job Description

  • Manage financial reporting processes, including preparation of monthly management accounts.
  • Oversee the annual budgeting process and provide financial forecasts.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and standards relevant to the not-for-profit sector.
  • Provide guidance and support to budget holders on financial matters.
  • Supervise and develop the finance team to ensure high performance.
  • Coordinate the preparation of year-end accounts and liaise with external auditors.
  • Monitor cash flow and implement strategies for financial sustainability.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and systems.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Financial Controller should have:

  • A professional accountancy qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
  • Significant experience in accounting and finance, preferably within the not-for-profit sector.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • The ability to communicate complex financial information effectively to non-financial stakeholders.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.
