Job Description

  • Partner with Principals and senior leaders across a regional portfolio of schools, providing expert and pragmatic HR advice.
  • Lead on complex employee relations casework, including disciplinary, grievance, absence, capability and performance matters.
  • Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, quickly understanding their needs and providing practical people solutions.
  • Coach and support managers to confidently handle people matters in line with employment law, policy and best practice.
  • Work closely with Trade Union representatives, supporting positive relationships and the resolution of employee relations matters.
  • Support organisational change, restructures and cultural change, providing appropriate HR guidance throughout.
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of HR policies, procedures and ways of working.
  • Use people data and HR trends to identify risks, challenges and opportunities for improvement across the region.
  • Work collaboratively with school-based HR leads and the wider People team, sharing knowledge and building HR capability.
  • Operate autonomously across a multi-site regional environment, balancing remote support with regular travel to schools and building strong relationships on site.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Interim Regional People Partner should have:

  • Strong experience operating at HR Business Partner, People Partner or senior HR advisory level.
  • Significant experience managing complex employee relations casework from start to finish.
  • Excellent knowledge of UK employment law, HR policies and best practice.
  • Confidence advising, influencing and constructively challenging senior leaders and managers.
  • Experience working within a fast-paced, multi-site organisation.
  • Previous experience within the education or wider public sector, ideally within a unionised environment.
  • Experience building effective relationships and working collaboratively with Trade Union representatives.
  • Strong experience supporting organisational change, restructures and consultation processes.
  • The ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and hit the ground running in an interim role.
  • CIPD qualification or equivalent experience, alongside excellent communication, stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.

What's on Offer

  • Salary ranging from £50,000 to £55,000, dependent on the level of experience.
  • Fixed-term contract until August 2027, offering the opportunity to join a well-established organisation within the education sector.
  • Hybrid working, with regular travel to sites across the North West and Midlands. Travel expenses are covered in line with the organisation's expenses policy.
  • 30 days annual leave plus bank holidays, access to a Local Government Pension Scheme and additional benefits.
