As a Purchasing Manager in the FMCG business, based in Lancashire, you'll provide a proactive and qualitative Purchasing function to the organisation covering an approximate £12 million spend per annum. The role will work with the company's established management in order to successfully achieve cost savings through strong negotiation with planning, warehouse, suppliers and maintain / develop a robust stock control system.

A Global FMCG business is recruiting a Purchasing Manager in Lancashire.

Job Description

The role of Purchasing Manager will be responsible for :

  • Manage supplier relationships, ensuring quality and cost efficiency.
  • Develop and execute procurement strategies aligned with business goals.
  • Source and negotiate contracts with suppliers to achieve best value.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels to meet operational requirements.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies and industry regulations.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to forecast and plan supply needs.
  • Analyse market trends to support informed purchasing decisions.
  • Work closely with the Operations Director and the Senior Management Team in the development and implementation of the Purchasing strategy.
  • Serve as the Purchasing point of contact to the Senior Management Team, Senior Managers and Line Managers to actively deliver for the businesses monthly / annual objectives.
  • Maintain a strong business acumen and successfully influence cost savings within the business.
  • To support and advise the business on process and best practice.
  • To manage the ordering process including chemicals/ingredients/components/printed matter/ packaging, consumables and other indirect items - either from the UK or abroad.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Purchasing Manager should have:

  • Experience in procurement or supply chain management within the FMCG sector.
  • A strong understanding of supplier negotiation and contract management.
  • Familiarity with inventory management and cost control practices.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry regulations and standards.
  • Experience of sourcing raw materials and packaging would be beneficial.
