Job Description

  • Reviewing, developing and drafting new policies, procedures and guidance.
  • Preparing high-quality papers, briefings and recommendations for senior leaders.
  • Leading stakeholder consultations with a range of internal and external partners, including suppliers, employee representatives, trade unions and senior management.
  • Leading discussions and representing senior leadership at a range of strategic and operational meetings.
  • Working collaboratively with external HR service providers to deliver a consistent and integrated HR service across the organisation.
  • Leading and contributing to specific HR projects and organisational initiatives.
  • Reviewing HR policies and processes to identify and reduce unnecessary bureaucracy.
  • Identifying and implementing improvements and practical solutions to HR policies and processes as part of a continuous improvement approach.
  • Identifying emerging organisational challenges and taking proactive measures to address issues, improve outcomes and support effective service delivery.



The Successful Applicant

A successful Senior HR Policy Lead should have:

  • Extensive knowledge and practical application of employment legislation and relevant regulatory frameworks, gained through experience in a senior HR role.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion legislation and its application within the workplace.
  • A strong understanding of good HR practice, including guidance and standards promoted by external bodies such as ACAS.
  • Extensive knowledge of HR policies and relevant public sector regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess policy impacts and identify appropriate solutions.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage effectively with people at all levels.
  • A proactive approach to policy development, implementation and continuous improvement.
  • The ability to work effectively in a temporary role, quickly understand organisational priorities and deliver results within tight timescales.

  • Daily rate: Umbrella rate: £550 per day PAYE rate: £420.93 per day
  • Working arrangements: 3 days per week in the office
  • Four-month contract
  • Temporary public sector contract.
