Buying and Merchandising

Retail Buyers are in charge of selecting or creating finished products for their categories, based on customer demands and industry trend. Category dependent, these will consist of either branded or own brand products, with own brand products being sourced from across the globe. Negotiation and supplier management are key skill sets for individuals in the Buying arena.
 
Merchandisers work alongside a buying team providing analytical support, through forecasting and trend analysis ensuring that the Buyers have the correct data in order to buy/source products. Essentially, merchandising is the numerical function within a business that ensures that stock is ordered following previous trend patterns and data collated.
