Job Description

    • Lead and develop a payroll team of three, coaching and supporting their ongoing growth.
    • Deliver accurate weekly and four‑weekly end‑to‑end payrolls in partnership with the wider Group Payroll team.
    • Oversee and prioritise the team's daily workflow to ensure all deadlines are consistently met.
    • Resolve payroll queries confidently and professionally.
    • Produce accurate statutory reports, payroll summaries, and KPI dashboards.
    • Support HR, Finance, and operational teams with timely payroll data and insights.
    • Drive continuous improvement by reviewing processes, identifying efficiencies, and supporting payroll system enhancements.
    • Contribute to wider payroll or system implementation projects.



The Successful Applicant

  • Strong hands-on payroll experience, ideally across multiple pay patterns.
  • Experience managing or supervising a team - coaching, motivating, and developing others.
  • Solid understanding of sick pay, parental pay, P11Ds, and payrolled benefits.
  • High levels of accuracy, organisation, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and a customer‑focused approach.
  • Strong Excel capability - including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables.
  • An improvement mindset with experience in refining processes or systems.
  • Experience with payroll software; CIPP qualification beneficial but not essential.
