But it’s within London’s city centre known as the Financial Square Mile that a large number of companies from the B2C and B2B industries have set up their headquarters. Each recruit for a variety of exciting roles and London currently generates approximately 17% of UK’s overall Gross Domestic Product (GDP), highlighting it to be a key city for business and services. The opportunities available are plenty and varied because skilled professionals are always in demand and roles in the City offer competitive salaries to match.

Education and professional development in London

London is home to many established educational facilities such as London School of Economics, Imperial College London, Birkbeck University of London and University College London. These collectively offer a wide range of courses ranging from Business and Management, Culture and Environment, to Economics, Film programming and Curating. There’s also European Politics and Policy, Advanced Chemical Engineering with Process Systems Engineering, Archaeology and Anthropology.
London also has a number of high-profile museums and art galleries such as, The National Gallery showcasing Western European paintings, The National Portrait Gallery, with a collection of Tudor paintings and the Saatchi Gallery that showcases contemporary art. There’s The British Library  and a host of theatres with a range of top shows. Her Majesty’s Theatre (Phantom of the Opera) Prince Edward Theatre (Disney’s Aladdin) and the New London Theatre (School of Rock).

Transport links in London

The transport infrastructure within the city compares favourably with the rest of Europe. London has a wide range of transport options to get to and from work. Its underground service, now formally known as the Tube, serves areas right across the city including Green Park, Holborn, King's Cross St. Pancras, Leicester Square, Liverpool Street, London Bridge and Oxford Circus to name a few. The Tube served more than 1.3bn passengers in 2016, with lines linking to the UK’s major airports, it is heavily relied on by both residents and visitors to the city. However, the Tube is not the only transport option for workers. There’s also the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) that caters for 119m passengers wanting to access the Docklands area. It passes through the popular Excel Centre and the business district of Canary Wharf. Buses also run regular routes throughout the capital, but if your preference is to travel by alternative means, then London also has a riverboat service with its route stretching from Hampton Court through to Woolwich Royal Arsenal. Or, for those eager to stay on the road but also wanting to beat the rush, bicycles are available as another option.  London’s major overground train stations such as London Bridge, Waterloo the busiest station, and King’s Cross, all run services from the heart of London to the regional areas of the UK.
London is a great place to live and work with lots to do and a great number of exciting employment opportunities, offering competitive salaries.
